GForge V4.0 Released

Urbandale, IA October 24, 2004

GForge Group has announced the release of v4.0 of the GForge Collaborative Development Environment. The 4.0 release extends the ability of the application to integrate with third party source control management tools and provides several feature enhancements to make projects more customizable.

Major enhancements include:

Role-Based Access Controls (RBAC): Unifies all access information into roles, allowing Project Administrators to enable or deny access to project resources on a project-by-project and user-by user basis.

SCM Tracker/Task Integration: Integrates SCM, Trackers and Tasks to allow users to link CVS commits to trackers or tasks to help track which files were changed to complete a task or fix a bug.

Subversion and ClearCase Support: Allows GForge administrators to create projects and associate them with new or existing Subversion or ClearCase repositories. Users can browse the repository from the GForge web interface to make quick references to the code without opening another application.

Advanced Reporting and Time Tracking: Improvements to advanced reporting include a major cleanup and rewrite of statistics systems for accurate project statistics. Dozens of graph and chart functions in hundreds of combinations have been added to give users a graphical representation of the site statistics.

Many more enhancements including:

WebDav Support

XML SOAP API Support

Email Forum Submissions

Email Tracker Submissions

Unlimited Fields in Trackers

Continued Cleanup and Updating of Code

Contributors: GForge and the GForge Group rely on the time and financial contributions of open source developers and our partner organizations. Without their ongoing support, the GForge project and its continued development and enhancement would not be possible.
