Doing this for nine years now...
GForge, LLC is a small, Iowa-based software and service company, with an impressive customer list. GForge LLC was founded in 2002 and run by Tim Perdue and an array of full-time programmers and freelance contractors.
Tim Perdue is a cross between a die-hard programmer and an entrepreneur. He's one of the original founders and developers of SourceForge.net, which was released by VA Linux Systems as open source in January 2000. Prior to that, Tim founded PHP Builder.com, which was acquired by Internet.com in 2000, and also founded Geocrawler, which was acquired by VA Linux Systems in 1999. After leaving SourceForge in 2001, Tim studied astronomy and physics at Drake University and started the GForge open source project based on the last open source release of SourceForge. As the GForge project was growing, larger and larger companies were asking for help setting it up and the need arose to form the GForge Group to help meet these needs.
Today, GForge is used by thousands of corporations, military and government agencies worldwide to manage their software engineering projects. With the trend towards distributed and offshore development, GForge is uniquely positioned to provide coordination and support to this new development paradigm.
As GForge Group has grown over the years, we have broadened our software and services offerings to include proprietary software add-ons for the open source software project as well as a commercial edition of GForge.
The GForge Group offers
Unmatched Expertise As the authors and drivers of the software project, we have the unique ability to support, customize and enhance GForge.
GForge® Advanced Server The GForge Group undertook a total redesign and rewrite from scratch of the GForge system, using 7 years of expertise in the industry. The result is a modern, modular system with major new features.
Enterprise CDE The Enterprise CDE offers several commercial-grade addons to the open source project, including professionally-written documentation, plugins for Eclipse, Visual Studio and MS Project, support and updates.
Customization - We can customize GForge far faster and more cleanly than anyone else, which helps assure you that you won't get trapped in a hacked version of GForge that cannot be upgraded.
Appliance - The GForge Appliances can be plugged into your network to provide an instant collaboration environment.
